Born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, I am a proud daughter of Mexican immigrants and a direct product of immigration reform. In other words, I would not be here without the privilege my parents were once granted, and because of that, I have a strong commitment to social justice. Other values that inform my practice are service, integrity, competence, a belief in the inherent dignity and worth of each person, and the importance of human relationships. These are also the core values of social work, my area of expertise.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I view each person within the context of their environment, including family, social groups, geographic location, and even politics at large. After all, none of us exist in a vacuum, and that is especially true for marginalized communities. I aim to meet each client with empathy, compassion, and non-judgment as they work to understand themselves and others in a way that will help them navigate the world.
My clinical work centers on a trauma-informed, humanistic approach, and it is informed by both my lived experiences and the clinical knowledge I have attained over the years. I specialize in working with children, women, and neurodivergent individuals, including high-functioning adults who often slip through the cracks. I welcome LGBTQIA+ community members and all people of color, both groups that have faced significant adversity throughout history. As it turns out, trauma lingers and often manifests in the form of an inner critic that can be hard to escape. My job is to help you single that voice out, explore it from a place of curiosity, and learn how to replace it with more productive thoughts. Together, we have what it takes to help you heal.
